Diocesan Assembly

According to the Constitution of the Malankara Orthodox Church, Every diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Church has a Diocesan Assembly. The Diocesan Metropolitan presides over the assembly meeting. All matters related to the spiritual growth of the Diocese are discussed and decided in this administrative body, including the budget and accounts. Each parish of the Diocese is represented at the Assembly by their Vicar and a certain number of elected laity, based on the number of parishioners.

The term of all Diocesan Assembly delegates are five years. The Diocesan Assembly meets once a year or otherwise deemed appropriate by the Metropolitan.

The 48th General Assembly was conducted on 31st July, 2024 at Delhi Orthodox Centre, Tughlakabad. Various topics regarding the development of the diocese were deliberated and discussed in the meeting. A Brief Report of Aanchal, the Mission Project of our Dicoese and St. Basil Orthodox Church, Rohini was presented by Rev. Fr. Thomas John Mavelil. A brief report on the General Assembly is given below.

The long cherished project of the Diocese to dedicate a Museum for our former Metropolitans was also inaugurated on the same day by H.G. Dr. Youhanon Mar Demetrios in the presence of all the priests and laity present.
