Condolence Message of H.G. Dr. Youhanon Mar Demetrios on the demise of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI

The Malankara Orthodox Church, and the Diocese of Delhi, joins all the Catholic faithful in mourning for the loss of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI. The Kalpana from H.G. Dr. Youhanon Mar Demetrios (Delhi Diocesan Metropolitan and the President of Department of Ecumenical Relations of Malankara Orthodox Church).

Dr. Paulos Mar Gregorios Elocution Competition

On the occasion of the 26th Memorial Day of the Late Dr. Paulos Mar Gregorios Thirumeni of blessed memory, the St. Thomas OCYM Ghaziabad Unit under the auspices of St. Thomas Orthodox Church, Ghaziabad will conduct the 12th Dr. Paulos Mar Gregorios Ever Rolling Trophy – Elocution Competition at St. Thomas Church, Ghaziabad on Sunday, 11th December 2022 at 11.00 am after Holy Qurbana.

The topic for this year’s competition is “Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.” WORSHIPPING GOD IN A POSTMODERN PLURALISTIC SOCIETY – St. Matthew 4:10

To herald the coming of the Great King and Saviour, Jesus Christ, the Delhi Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Church will be conducting a grand Joint Christmas Carol Evening, SILVER BELLS 2022, on Friday, 16th December 2022, 7.00 pm at the Delhi Orthodox Centre Auditorium, 2, Institutional Area, Tughlakabad, New Delhi. The Delhi Diocesan Metropolitan H.G. Dr. Youhanon Mar Demetrios will preside over the function and Ms. Kunjamma Mathew, President, YWCA of India will deliver the Christmas Message and the Parish Choirs will present the carols. Dr. Paulos Mar Gregorios Award-2022, 7th Edition

The prestigious 7th Dr. Paulos Mar Gregorios Award by the Sophia Society, Delhi will be conferred to Shri Sonam Wangchuk. Dr. Paulos Mar Gregorios was the first Bishop of Delhi under the Malankara (Indian) Orthodox Church based at Kottayam, Kerala. Dr. Gregorios was an internationally acclaimed philosopher, theologian, thinker, orator, author, philanthropist and many more. The Sophia Society, a registered charitable society under the Diocese of Delhi catering to social and educational objectives, resolved to maintain the memory of the departed Metropolitan through a biennial prestigious Award, called the Dr. Paulos Mar Gregorios Award, given to a noted person who exemplified the ideals and aspirations of Metropolitan Mar Gregorios. The recipients in the previous years, since its inception in 1997, have been H.H. the Dalai Lama for Interfaith Dialogue and Co-operation, Dr. Verghese Kurien for Community Self-renewal, Dr. P.K. Warrier for Holistic Medicine, Dr. Baba Amte for Creative Compassion, Dr. Karan Singh for Interfaith Dialogue and Culture, Ms. Aruna Roy & MKSS for Community and Human Renewal. The 7th Dr. Paulos Mar Gregorios Award will be presented to Shri Sonam Wangchuk, an engineer, innovator and education reformist from Ladakh on Sunday, 27th November 2022 at the St. Thomas School, Indirapuram. The Award consists of a cash award of Rs. 5 Lakhs, a citation and a medallion bearing the imprint of the Metropolitan Paulos Mar Gregorios.
